Worship with us from Home

While we may not be able to meet in person for worship and activities, we continue to offer services and community gatherings virtually. Follow our Facebook page for news about upcoming online events and join us for worship Sunday mornings at 10:30 on Zoom. The English service by Rev. David Clinker takes place at 10:30 a.m. and, later, the Culte Interculturel Français is led by Rev. Marie-Claude Manga at 13:30. If you are interested in attending our Zoom services, please contact us by email and the link will be provided to you. Services are also uploaded to our YouTube channel to be watched at your convenience.

A message from the Mount Royal United Church Council’s

Reopening Committee, May 21, 2021

We are looking forward to the day when we will be able to safely worship ‘live and in person’ in our church sanctuary. It will be a new day for us!

As we think about our return to the sanctuary, we recognize we will not want to lose the presence of our members who are able to participate remotely (e.g. from their homes) but who will not be able to return in person. In order to ensure we remain accessible to as many of our members as possible, we would like to continue to have our live in-person worship shared on an interactive platform, like Zoom.

We also want to ensure the best worship experience for the whole congregation – those who will be in person as well as those on-line.

In order to achieve these two goals, we will need to install a couple of small cameras, a projector and a screen, as well as additional speakers to improve the sound quality.

This will allow us all to participate in worship, to share multimedia content, and to make our sanctuary more functional for a variety of church and community events.

Reopening Committee Report on Survey

April 7, 2021

The committee is pleased to report a very gratifying response to the “reopening” survey.

Over 60 people took the time to complete the survey, helping to guide our church into a post pandemic world.

Sincere thanks to you all.

From this survey technique, we are able to see that

the majority of respondents are in favour of a Hybrid service- continuing on Zoom as well as an eventual return to the sanctuary for those who are able.

Most respondents favour returning to the sanctuary when we can sing together, have coffee together and are vaccinated.

As well, the vast majority favour sanctuary changes in audio/visual equipment which would allow simultaneous Zoom and sanctuary worship.

Sunday school respondents are ready to return to church when everyone else is “on board”.

COVID conditions vary daily, so updates in worship format are constantly revised.

But the committee will be reporting its work regularly.

Re-opening Planning Report

As we prepare for the eventual reopening of the church, please note that, although there is someone in the office Monday – Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (with exceptions for staff vacations), public access is only by arrangement/appointment with staff. Call 514-739-7741.

We encourage people not to come in for the time being; if necessary, make appointments.

The telephone answering machine is monitored 7 days a week so please leave a message.

Masks are required and physical distancing must continue to be practiced. Hand sanitizers are installed at the entrances.
