Immediate Opening

Mount Royal United Church (MRUC) is looking for a person to assist in facilitating worship services that incorporate both local and remote (Zoom) participants. MRUC has invested in a state of the art live streaming production system to facilitate both local and remote interactive participation and content generation. This is a new and developing form of engagement with opportunity for contributions by someone familiar with live streaming production possibilities.

Required working hours:

Be available on-site at MRUC from 9:30 to 12:00 Sunday mornings

Be available remote for Thursday 7pm Zoom rehearsal (~30min)

The person must:

Be proficient with Windows OS, Powerpoint and Zoom Hosting software

Have access to a computer & high-speed internet

Be proficient with video-recording software, YouTube, local players, etc.

Be familiar with and respectful of a United Church of Canada ethos

Be able to work comfortably within a diverse, Affirming congregation

Be respectful of the Church’s Zoom account as a space for worship and pastoral care

Note: familiarity with OBS or vMix, or a desire to gain proficiency a plus.

On Sunday Mornings, the person will:

Manage video/audio sourcing both locally and in Zoom through sharing slides and media (video files, YouTube, audio, …)

Welcome Zoom users and manage IDs of phone only users at start of service.

Be prepared to help deal with security issues (internet trolls, etc)

Give tech support to Zoom users when possible; identify those requiring possible offline support

Prepare Break-Out Groups for those on Zoom after the service

Outside of service time, the person will:

Remain in contact with the Minister, Secretary, Music Director and Sunday School coordinators

Monitor software updates and security settings

Prepare a lightly edited video of the service and post to the church’s YouTube/Facebook accounts
