Time of Decision
The
United Church of Canada has asked its congregations to consider the words we
use to describe the faith. In the Spring our church will be asked to offer its opinion as to
which words should be included in our official statement, “The Basis of
Union”. Should we continue to use only
the words of the Basis of Union, written to facilitate union in 1925? Or should we include the subsequently
developed statements, like “The New Creed”, and “The Song of Faith”. If you are interested in reviewing this study
document and the three statements under discussion, you are welcome to take a
booklet from the credenza in the office hallway, or request one from our
office. Our Congregation and Council
will discuss and vote on a “remit” in the new year.
