Our Music Director

Michel Gauthier

Michel Gauthier was born in Montréal in 1957.

He has studied for five years with Bernard Lagacé, one of Québec's greatest artists ever, famous organist and Bach scholar.

Michel came to Mount-Royal United Church in 1985. This is where he can be heard every Sunday morning, playing the organ, the piano and conducting the Choir.

Michel currently teaches music at Collège Beaubois (to children from "maternelle" to grade six). For more than 20 years, he has been teaching singing as well the piano, the guitar, recorders and all other Orff instruments.

This link features some clues to his eclectic approach:

For the last 10 years, he has played the piano with Solar Jazz Trio.

In the last few years, he has been associated artistically and otherwise with his wife, Jessica Gauthier, a rising soprano in the opera scene.
